As most of us probably don’t think much about breathing in general, any effort we make to improve and control it will be beneficial – so which method we chose becomes only a secondary question. The BEST way of doing ANYTHING is the one that we actually DO. There is no point in having the best program on the planet if we don’t do what it says.
If you have never done any breathwork before, doing alternating nostril breathing might be a good start (just hold one nostril blocked while breathing through the other then switch). However, if you want to go a bit deeper into it, give Wim Hof’s breathing practice a go. And by that, I mean 30 days. Not one. You don’t have to go all in at the beginning, just practice it. Become familiar with it.
You can modify the duration of the breath holds based on your current level, but you will find you will adapt pretty quickly.
There are many methods and this is just one of them. Maybe not the best for everybody, but it’s still better than nothing. So, it is 3 rounds. 30 inhale-exhale cycles. When finished exhaling the 30th time, hold with the breath out as long as you can (1min in the vid in the first round), then take a breath and hold for 15 seconds, then repeat for 2 more rounds.
Give it a go and let me know your experiences.
